The Chicago Police Department is now enforcing stricter parking regulations, see the attached map and photos explaining the areas available for parking. All cars must be removed from center of Palmer Square and Kedzie Ave by 5pm on Sunday. Cars parked after 5pm will be ticketed. We have purchased yellow road barricades to assist with the areas available for parking, see the attached.

The ONE LOVE - SERBIAN SONG FESTIVALl will soon be here! We hope that you are all gearing up for a wonderful time in Chicago, IL over the Memorial Day weekend. This year the Festival will be held jointly by the SSF and SOCA organizations. The local organizers have been working diligently over the last many months to provide all singers and friends with a wonderful event. We look forward to your participation in this historic event.

"MOKRANJAC DAYS"

To be Celebrated at Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church
October 10 through October 11, 2009



The highly acclaimed composer, Stevan Stojanovic "Mokranjac" will be celebrated by the choir that carries his name October 10 and October 11. Mokrnjac Days are celebrated in his home town of Mokranj for a full week, honoring the composer for his vital and transformative contributions to Serbian music and particularly to his contribution to music for Holy Liturgy.

Highlights: October 10, 2009

• 6 p.m. Vesper Services in the church (3062 W. Palmer Blvd, Chicago)
• 7 p.m. concert of the Stevan Stojanovic Mokranjac Choir and guest choirs
• There will be a commemoration through a small film presentation of his life and works during the concert
• At 8 p.m., the celebration will flow into the hall of the church where there will be a Tamburitza Orchestra, Mi Smo, to entertain guests
• Food will be served, including Cevapi and other Serbian food fare
• Refreshments also available

Concert admission is a $7 at the door (donation to the choir), $5 if purchased from choir members before the event.

Join us for the annual celebration of KSS Slava - Kolo Sestara Slava - Mala Gospoina on Sunday, September 20, 2009

Our Kolo of Serbian Sisters of Old Holy Resurrection will be celebrating their Slava, Nativity of the Theotokos (Mother of God) and Ever –Virgin Mary, is September 20, 2009.

We invite all of our faithful, parishioners and friends to celebrate this slava with our KSS. Holy Liturgy will begin at 10:00 a.m. officiated by our parish priest and accompanied by the Stevan Stojanovic “Mokranjac”. We will have a brief service for departed KSS members immediately following the Liturgy. We will cut the Slava Kolac as is customary prior to the special luncheon prepared by our KSS.

This year, the Domacin host is our very own Mrs. Jovanka ?ilovanovic with her family. Our Soko dance group will lead a small program to conclude our luncheon.

We are so very pleased and look forward to celebrating this very joyous with all of you. It would be greatly appreciated if our Sisters could bring some cookies for the event.

Branko Puhar, past president of OHR, friend, and devoted Serb passed away July 4th.  There will be a pomen tonight at OHR, 3062 W. Palmer at 7 p.m.  The viewing begins at 4 p.m.

Tomorrow, the church service will begin at 10 a.m. and then the procession to Gracanica will follow with a short service in the cemetery.
