About Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church

In the Holy Resurrection congregation today we have a Church School, a choir named Stevan Mokranjac, and the Circle of Serbian Sisters womens group. The parishioners and the new priest Fr. Luka Lukić strive to improve the spiritual and cultural life of this community.

Our Clergy

Proto Luka Lukic was ordained in 1956 in Osečina near Vaqevo, Serbia, in a family that gave several priests and the motto of St. Arsenije of Srem. He lived in Sremski Karlovci near Novi Sad in Serbia. Then I enrolled and studied at the Faculty of Theology in Belgrade in Serbia. Ordained as the rank of Decon on December 14, 1980 and was appointed parish priest in Borina near Loznica, Serbia.

Father Luka has been decorated several times. The first decoration was in 1988, the red belt, then he was decorated in protonamesnik in 1992 and in 1995 he was pro-conceived into the rank of protopresbyter.

History

The Holy Resurrection Church has been part of the Serbian community in Chicago since 1905. After the spilt of the Serbian Church in America, parishes including Holy Resurrection that supported Bishop Dionisije organized a new and separate Church congregation in 1964. After many rented spaces 2410 N Kedzie Blvd was purchased in 1966. Today’s parish home is a former Evangelical church on Palmer Square. This property was purchased and refurbished in 1968.

Hall Rental

We have two halls available for events such as Anniversary and Retirement celebrations, Birthday parties and Baptisms, Engagement and Wedding parties, along with Memorial events.
