Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Gospel (Mt 21, 33-42) is the parable of the vineyard. The vineyard is the planet where we Orthodox Christians live. It is hedged around by the presence of the Church. The wine-press is the altar. And the tower is the Church. And the servants are the saints. Always those who have denied Christ and His Church have thought that the world belonged to them and that therefore they could do what they wanted with it. God will send His Son and that will be the Second Coming, the Coming of the Heir.
Gospel of the marriage-feast (Mt 22, 2-14) remains as true today as when it was first spoken. If we ask those who do not come to church why, they will give various answers. But whatever the reason given, ultimately there is only one reason why people do not come to church – because they are ignorant of the Holy Spirit. ‘The man who has not known God through the Holy Spirit cannot seek Him with tears, and his soul is ever harrowed by the passions; his mind is on earthly things’. Let us remember these words of St. Silvanus the Athonite. Then we will not refuse to enter into the marriage-feast of salvation in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Gospel (Mt 22, 35-46) summarizes our whole faith: ‘Love God and love your neighbor as yourself’. Unfortunately, we are so accustomed to hearing these words that we sometimes forget what they mean. If we are called to love the Creator, then we must surely also love His Creation, including our fellow-men, who are made in the image and the likeness of God the Creator. The lack of faith in the loving Creator always and inevitably leads to hatred of His Creation, that is, hatred of our neighbors, and then hatred of ourselves.
Each time that we read the Gospel of the talents (Mt 25, 14-30), new points strike us. The Lord gives each of His servants a different number of talents. We are not equal to one another – we are different from one another. This does not mean that the Lord prefers one person to another. Simply it means that the Lord knows what is best for each one of us, and He gives, as the Gospel says, ‘to every man according unto several ability’. We should ask ourselves what we are doing with our God-given lives and our God-given gifts.

Драга браћо и сестре,
Одломак из Јеванђеља (Мт 21, 33-42) је прича о винограду. Виноград је свет у коме ми Православци живимо. Он је ограђен и заштићен Црквом Христовом. Преса за вино је олтар, а кула у винограду црква. Господареве слуге су свеци. Они који су одбацивали Христа и Његову Цркву су увек мислили да свет припада њима, и да према томе могу да раде шта пожеле. Бог ће да пошаље свога Сина, и то ће да буде Други долазак наследника.
Јеванђеље о свадбеној гозби (Мт 22, 2-14) је истинито и данас, као и у време када је испричано. Уколико питамо оне који не долазе у цркву зашто то чине, добићемо најразличитије одговоре. Међутим, који год да је њихов изговор, само један разлог је прави, а то је да не познају Духа Светог. „Човек који не познаје Бога Духом Светим, не може да га тражи у сузама, и његова душа је увек обузета страстима, а његов ум земаљским стварима“. Упамтимо ове речи Св. Силуана Светогорца. Тако нећемо да избегавамо долазак на свадбену гозбу спасења у Царству Божијем.
Одломак из Светог Јеванђеља (Мт 22, 35-46) сажима сву нашу веру: „Воли Бога, и воли ближњег као себе самог“. Нажалост, толико често то слушамо, да понекад заборављамо шта то значи. Ако смо позвани да волимо Створитеља, онда морамо да волимо и оно што је створио, укључујући и наше ближње, који су створени по слици и прилици Божијој. Недостатак вере у Своритеља који нас воли, увек и сигурно води до презира творевине, односно до мржње према ближњима, али и према нама самима.
Сваки пут када чујемо Јеванђеље о талантима (Мт 25, 35-46), извлачимо нову поуку. Господ даје сваком свом служитељу различити број талената. Нисмо сви исти, већ се једни од других разликујемо. То не значи да Господ више воли једну личност од друге. То значи да Господ једноставно зна шта је за свакога од нас најбоље. Он тако даје, као што се у Јеванђељу каже, „сваком човеку према његовим могућностима“. Треба да будемо запитани шта радимо са животима и даровима које нам је Бог дао.
Тражимо Бога, и живе ће бити душе наше.
